ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN: "I Don't Know What Is Considered To Be A Millionaire"
August 22, 2002A recently-conducted interview with ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian focusing primarily on the business side of the group's affairs can be viewed at the Bankrate.com web site at this location.
A couple of select highlights from said interview:
Bankrate.com: I think people have misconceptions about what bands earn. Did being a member of ANTHRAX make you a millionaire?
Scott Ian: I don't know what is considered to be a millionaire. I've made more than that in my whole time in the band. Does that mean whether or not I have a million dollars cash in the bank? I don't really know.
Bankrate.com: What is your greatest source of income -- recording, touring or merchandising?
Scott Ian: Probably touring. Touring is much more consistent. We do a lot more touring than bands used to do in the old days. If you're going to properly tour, it takes years to visit all the places you need to, across America, Europe, Asia. Bands used to do records every six months -- you finished a record, then did another. Now, you can easily expect 18 months of touring around the world per album, then a little time to rest, then you go write and record another album. So it's three years between albums. I don't like it that much. I wish it wasn't that way.
